We are pleased to announce the 4th Bacchus Conference, which follows on from the success of the premier edition in 2002, entitled 'Bacchus to the Future', before our first effort with 2005's Bacchus in Bourgogne; and the most recent incarnation of the 2007 Bacchus at Brock. These events have set a high standard, which we wish to continue with 'Bacchus goes Green' in 2009.
The prime objective of this colloquium is to throw open our research discipline to the eager and critical eyes of the world's experts in order to encourage a healthy exchange of ideas across the different fields of research in the wine and gastronomy sectors. Bacchus is conducted so that attendees benefit through the provision of feedback on their research, aiding the researcher in pursuit of journal publications. Secondly, this conference recognises the importance of experiencing the unique cultural elements of the wine and gastronomy sectors. Events are planned with these objectives in mind, encouraging attendees to engage socially with other professionals and academics in the local environment.
The theme that we have chosen for this event was selected due to the salience of two major issues facing these sectors: The natural environment and innovations. The colour green is the global symbol of nature and the planet, while also being recognised in many cultures as a symbol of all things new. Accordingly, we chose to adopt the theme of the 2009 conference as 'Bacchus goes Green'.
Nous sommes heureux de vous annoncer la 4ème Conférence de Bacchus, qui fait suite aux succès de la première édition de 2002, intitulée 'Bacchus to the Future', avant notre première conférence ‘Bacchus in Bourgogne’ en 2005 ; et la plus récente édition de 2007 ‘Bacchus at Brock’. Ces évènements ont établi un standard de qualité que nous souhaitons poursuivre avec 'Bacchus goes Green' en 2009.
Le principal objectif de ce colloque est d’appréhender notre domaine de recherche d’un regard critique d’experts afin d’encourager un échange d’idées entre les différents domaines de la recherche dans le secteur du vin et de la gastronomie. D’une part, Bacchus est organisé de sorte que les participants bénéficieront de commentaires sur leurs recherches les aidant dans la poursuite de publications dans des revues. D’autre part, la conférence reconnaît l’importance d’appréhender les éléments culturels du secteur du vin et de la gastronomie. Des manifestations sont prévues dans cet objectif, encourageant les participants à s’engager socialement avec d’autres professionnels et chercheurs dans l’environnement local.
Le thème que nous avons choisi pour cet évènement a été sélectionné en raison de l’important enjeu de ces secteurs: L’environnement naturel et les innovations. La couleur verte est le symbole mondial de la nature et de la planète, tout en étant reconnu dans de nombreuses cultures, comme un symbole de toutes choses nouvelles. En conséquence, nous avons choisi d’adopter le thème 'Bacchus goes Green' de la conférence de 2009.
